Destinations Covered: Bangalore - Chennai - Mamallapuram - Pondicherry - Tiruchirapalli & Thanjavur - Madurai - Kanyakumari - Thiruvananthapuram - Backwaters & Kochi / Allepey – Bangalore.

The journey gets on at Bangalore and takes you to the historical Temple cities of. The beaches wait for you with their sandy shores. You will slide along by boat trough the palm trees and the Backwaters to Kochi, the vigorous port city on the Arabian sea. You will understand history and final destinations would be Bangalore again.

Day 01 - Monday: Bangalore - Chennai

Get-together point at the Taj West End at 15.00 hrs 
After High Tea at Banquet Hall move to Art Gallery. Evening check In at the Bangalore Railway Station on hotel train "The Golden Chariot, your relaxed home for the next week.
Departure for Chennai at: 22.00 hrs

Day 02 - Tuesday: Mamallapuram & Chennai

Arrival at Chennai: 06.00 hrs

Excursion to Mamallapuram, an old coastal port, south of Chennai, world famous shore temple.
Mamallapuram is chronological retreat set amidst natural beauty. This antique harbour of the Pallava dynasty invites connoisseur of art. Its monuments hewn out of slide rock, though ravaged by the sea and wind, still bear evidence to the wonderful heritage of Dravidian building. The famous temples of the Rathas, the Penance of Bhagirath, the Shore Temple and the eight Mandapams. (Shallow, rock cut halls) are also located at the beach.

Lunch at Mamallapuram. After lunch we drive back to visit the city of Chennai.

Chennai - Chennai is the head quarters for the Theosophical society. The society is positioned along river Adyar. This place has got shrine of approximately all faiths and 95 years old documentation with a rare collection of books and manuscripts many of which are written on palm leaves and parchments.

Sightseeing tour of Chennai. ‘St. Mary’s Church’, built in 1678 – 80, was the first English Church in Chennai.   The Saint Thomas Cathedral, built in 1504, and then re-built in 1893, this Roman Catholic.  Also visit the Kapaleeshwarar Temple, an ancient Shiva Temple, built in pure Dravidian style.  The Sri Parathasarathy Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna.  National Art Gallery and Museum. Drive past the High Court Building, Fort St. George and the famous film studios. Evening return to the train and dinner onboard

Day 03 - Wednesday: Pondicherry

Arrival at Pondicherry: 08:00 hrs
Pondicherry (or Puducheri) means 'the new settlement'. It was a French completion comprising of Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam besides Pondicherry
Sightseeing tour of Pondicherry, visiting Auroville. Auroville is an entirely new concept in education and urban living. The Aurobindo Ashram is known to the world over as the "Centre of Integral Yoga".  Sri Aurobindo.

After diner the train continuous to Tiruchirapalli at around: 22:00 p.m.

Day 04 - Thursday: Tiruchirapalli & Thanjavur

Arrival in Tiruchirapalli early in the morning

Trichy (Thiruchirapalli), an ancient town in the Cauvery delta, was a Chola stronghold in the 2nd century BC. The present town and the fort were put together by the Nayak kings of Madurai. The observation from the temple is exquisite. At a lower level along the rock is the Tayumanaswamy temple dedicated to Shiva. The fascinating temple town of Srirangam is on an island in the Cauvery. Seven concentric courtyards encircle the temple and town. Dedicated to the Lord Ranganathaswamy, the temple has 21 magnificent gopurams and is adorned with lavish sculpture.

Sightseeing tour of Tanjore visiting 10th and 14th centuries temples.  Later it became a part of the Vijaynagar Kingdom, which afterward passed into the hands of the Marathas and British.
Also visit Brihadeshwara temple.

Day 05 - Friday: Madurai

Arrival in Madurai: 08:00 hrs
Madurai is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. A city with marvellous monuments, places of worship and a very well blend of tradition and modernity. Orientation to Madurai is finished in the Indian epic Ramayana and Kautilya's, Arthasastra, making it one of the oldest cities in the country. Like numerous other places in Tamil Nadu, Madurai has a legend. It is said that the Pandya king Kulasekara manufactured a great temple in a big city for Lord Shiva.

Sightseeing tour of Madurai – The main interest is the Meenakshi Temple, with best architecture of Dravidian temple. There are a thousand Pillars in its Hall. Also visit to the – Thirumalai Nayak Palace & Thiruparangundram temple.

Day 06 - Saturday: Kanyakumari / Thiruvananthapuram

Early morning with Sunrise start the tour at Kanyakumari.  Kanyakumari the southernmost tip of the Peninsula. En-route, visit Padmanabhapuram palace & Sucheendram Temple. Kanyakumari, has been a great centre for art, culture, civilization and pilgrimage for years. This is the only place in India where one can enjoy the unique experience of watching the sunset and moonrise at the same time as on a full moon evening

Breakfast and Lunch will be served on board and in the afternoon depart to Thiruvananthapuram. Visit Palace of Thiruvananthpuram and leisurely walk through Kovalam Beach.  In the evening a Gala Dinner and Cultural Show at The Leela Kovalam.
Overnight in train while it departs for Alleppey

Day 07 - Sunday: Backwaters & Kochi / Allepey

Arrival in Allepey: 09:00 hrs
The most unforgettable way to experience the magic of the waterways and lagoons of the backwaters is to sail at your own pace - cruising along in a traditional boat. Reach to Kumarakom. The green shoreline and pure beauty will never exhaust you. The soft sunlight lends the calm water a new enchantment as the palms on both shores welcome you with a gentle whisper in the wind.

Upon arrival at Kumarakom, you will go into another world of wonders. This small backwater village, which is a cluster of islands, has a life of its own, with a slow, serene rhythm. The sights, sounds and fragrances will simply captivate you.

Lunch at Kumarakom and then drive to Cochin.

Sightseeing tour of Cochin includes The Dutch Palace known as Mattancherry Palace, built by Portugues in 1555, Jewish Synagogue (closed on Fridays & Saturdays) built in 1568. Also visit the St. Francis Church (closed on Sundays), build by the Portuguese Franciscan friars in 1503.
Vasco Da-Gama’s body was buried in the courtyard of this European church in Cochin. Traditional fishing rural community and the fisher folk in their costumes. See Chinese fishing nets which is still in use from very old time.

  • Remaining 80% of ticket value 30 days prior to departure.

  • 50% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking. 
  • Remaining 50% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
