Journey on Palace on Wheels starts in Delhi and proceed towards Rajasthan’s royal land, then Agra with the ending Delhi after a week. During your trip you can enjoy the royal destinations, music and dance, drink and dine and treat in your favorite activity. On board enjoy Gym, chat, read and makes friends.

Day 01 : Wednesday: New Delhi Departure at >6:00 PM

Arrive Delhi, upon arrival our representative will meet and assist you. If time permits you can go to visit some monuments of Delhi before the the Palace on Wheels India luxury train journey starts in the evening. 

Evening traditional welcome by the staff of Palace on Wheels giving a proud feeing of a king or queen for a moment when they garland and place a tikka on forehead. After an introductory meeting with fellow travellers. fine-tune with the condition and relax on luxurious seat. May be you would like to have a drink at the bar.
Dinner on board. Enjoy on your preferred Indian dish. Overnight onboard. The ambience, calm music will be a lead up to your sleep. Feel the charm of Indian Maharajas living style while lazing on the bed.

Day 02 : Thursday: Jaipur Arrival at 3.45 AM and Departure at 11.30 PM

Today Jaipur, city tour of Hawa Mahal, known as Palace of Wind. Then visit the Jantar Mantar- Astronomical Observatory.
Then you will explore the City Palace, which is now a museum of full royal splendor. You can pick up souvenirs from the markets. Jaipur is famous for handicrafts and hand block printing on textile.
Lunch at Amber Fort.

After lunch, Amber Fort. The Amber Fort, the capital of the erstwhile State of Jaipur until 1728 is perched on a hill. It has halls of Public and Private audience, a Sheesh Mahal (hall of mirrors) and various marble palaces which are marvelous examples of ancient Rajput architecture

Return back to Palace on Wheels. Relax for a while.
Evening we will leave for dinner in a grand five star heritage hotel. Return back and spend the night onboard.

Season Special Arrangements:

Lunch location would be at Amber Fort. Visit of Albert Hall. Dinner, Barbeque, Folk Dance at Jai Mahal hotel, an old palace of Rajput rulers converted in to hotel.

Day 03 : Friday: Swai Madhopur arrival at 5.30 AM and Departure 10.30 AM

In Sawai Madhopur visit the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve located at junction of the Aravali and the Vindhyas Hills. The 1000 year old Ranthambore Fort was once the hunting lodge of the maharajas. You might be lucky to spot a tiger. You will spot other animals like mammals, sambhar, wild boar, spotted deer, Indian Gazel, Jackal, Jungal cat, Panthers, Hynas Rarely sloth bears and various species of birds. Visit the bio-diversity of Ranthambore.
The breakfast is served in Hotel.
Lunch on Board Palace on Wheels.
After lunch enjoy your time on the train. Traveling through the countryside Palace on Wheel train will reach Chittorgarh.

Season Special Arrangements:
Visit to Jhoomar Baori, a hunting lodge of Jaipur ruler Sawai Madho Singh. Tourists can take the best picture of nature here.
Visit to Jogi Mahal-A former forest guest house from where you can take the best view of Padam Talab.
Leisurely Breakfast at Hotel. The peace and tranquility of the environment will soothe one.             

Day 03 : Friday: Chittorgarh Arrival 4.00 PM Departure 2.00 AM

Chittorgarh Fort, the largest fort in India was built by the Mauriyan rulers during the 7th century AD. Later Mewar ruler of Rajasthan established their capital here.
Visit the fort and its palaces. The beauty and architecture of Padamini and Rana Kumbha. The Victory Tower of the Fort is the landmark of the fort.

Dinner at Panna Hotel (Named after the foster mother of Mewar ruler, Panna Dhai who saved the life of prince by scarified her own son).
Cultural programme, music & Barbeque at the hotel.                                                    

Day 04 : Saturday: Udaipur Arrival 8.00 AM and Departure 3.30 PM

On the fourth day of Palace on Wheels Tour you tour the Udaipur city, the most romantic city in Rajasthan located on the bank of Lake Pichola. It was once the capital of Sisodia maharanas, a clan of Rajput.

Explore the city palace lavished with aesthetic and imaginative work of art miniature painting.
Season Special Arrangements:

Breakfast at Shikar Baori, erstwhile a hunting lodge of the Mewar ruler where they play their favorite sport-hunting.

Lunch at Sun set point, an Open air restaurant. You can have the breathtaking view of Lake Palace, Jagmandir and Pichola Lake.

Visit to Crystal Gallery which is a balcony of Fateh Prakash Banquet hall. It has a museum of crystal glass furniture, crockery, chandeliers of old time.

Day 05 : Sunday: Jaisalmer Arrival at 9.15 AM and Departure at 11.45 PM

Jaisalmer, the Desert Golden City has a unique charm which bewilders a traveller. This city was founded by Rawal Jaisal, a Bhati Rajput ruler in 1156 AD. It was a trade centre in ancient time as it is located en-route of a caravan road which connects India with Persia, Egypt, Africa and West.

You visit the Sonar Quila Fort (Golden Fort) made of yellow sand stone and it covers a huge area. A royal fort it is, but it is a home to common people now. Explore the Jain temples located inside it.
You also visit the havelies. Explore the architecture of Patwon Ki Haveli and Nathmalgi Ke Haveli, Salim Singh Ji Ki Haveli.

Have your lunch at Moomal Hotel. Then you all head towards the sand dunes of Jaisalmer villages. Enjoy camel ride till sunset.

Evening barbeque dinner at Samdhani.
Season Special Arrangements:
Lunch at Hotel Moomal which is carved in yellow sand stone (first in Jaisalmer). Savor the best dish of ethnic Rajasthani food. The ambience is soothed by folk music.

Day 06 : Monday: Jodhpur arrival at 7.00 AM and Departure at 3.30 PM

Tour Mehrangarh Fort which overlooking the blue city Jodhpur is perched on the top of a hill. It was built by Rao Jodha in 1459. Explore the sculptures and the architecture of the entire fort. You can do shopping at the handicrafts market.
Lunch at Gorgeous Umaid Bhawan Palace, a palace turned hotel.
After lunch back to Palace on Wheels train.
Drink and dine on the train.

Day 07 : Tuesday: Bharatpur arrival at 5.00 AM and Departure at 8.45 AM

Bharatpur is a city with history. Jats ruled here. It houses Lohargarh Fort (Iron Fort) which has bastions of mud.

Bird safari at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary which is now known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park. It is home to various species of resident and migratory birds.

Season Special Arrangements :
Breakfast at Bird Sanctuary. It has been nominated for a world heritage site. The park covers an area of 29 Sq kms and it is a heronries.
Agra Arrival 10.30 AM Departure 11.00 PM

Arriving at Agra you will explore the poignant Taj Mahal. Explore its marble symphony, the intricate carvings. Taj Mahal is built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal. It is a handiwork of several artisans and craftsmen.

Day 08 : Wednesday: Delhi arrival at 04.00 Hrs.

Arrive at Delhi Safdarjung Railway station. Breakfast on board. It is the time to bid farewell to Palace on Wheels tour, staff of the train and the fellow travellers.

Restaurants: Two lavish and beautifully done restaurants;"The Maharaja" and "The Maharani" serve mouth watering Continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthanicuisines that will surely satiate you.
Shopping: Onboard Palace on Wheels select handicrafts and other special items of Rajasthan origin can also be bought from State Govt. owned Emporia.

Smoking: The Palace On Wheels is a non-smoking train. However, if you wish to smoke, please contact your captain for guidance.

ATM / Satellite Phone: An ATM and Satellite Phone facility will soon be provided onboard the train.

Palace on Wheels Tariff and Taxes :

  • Children between 5 years and 12 years of age will be charged 50% of the tariff
  • Service tax shall be charged on the Palace on Wheels tariff
  • Extra US $15.00 per person Commercial tax Applicable.
  • During Christmas and New Year a 10% surcharge levied on the tariff
  • Your accommodation includes morning tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. You will be taken in Deluxe Coaches during sightseeing and entrance fees at Historical Monuments and Palaces are included. The cultural entertainment is also included. Expenses like laundry, liquor, video cameras entrances and other expenses of personal nature are not included.

MEALS: The two restaurant cars, the Maharaja and the Maharani, serve a range of Rajasthani, Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine. Menus are changed seasonally.
CLIMATE: Varies from 8o C to 25o C between September to March and in April around 30o C.
